Spotlight Tour: Bear and Bear a Like by Marie Mason

Genre: Erotic Paranormal Romance

Blackwood Brothers, #3

Ryland and Ryker Blackwood were twins. Identical, thigh clenching bear shifter twins who had no trouble getting women into their beds. Or bed. They’d shared just about everything in life, even women.

The scent of the cat shifter they found on their construction site was driving both Blackwood brothers crazy with lust. Or was it? Every time they thought they were getting closer to finding the woman who would be their mate, one of their bears backed away. The hot and cold feeling they were getting from their animals was confusing the shit out of them.

Was the cat shifter meant for one of them or both of them?

~Excerpt~

The bar was filled mostly with men who had come here to drink and forget their troubles. Or their wives. Watching one of the customers reach out and grab the ass of a waitress as she walked by, Ryker gave off a little growl. He might like to fuck women, but he never disrespected them. The crowd parted for him. Even though that had not been his intention, both he and Ryland took full advantage of the fact and headed toward the bar.

Before they could reach it, he stopped dead in his tracks, the scent of oranges pulling at him. If Ryland hadn’t been paying attention, he would have plowed into him and sent them both the floor. “Fuck.”

The scent of the cat shifter was playing the same tricks it had on the construction site. Outside, her scent had been strong, overwhelming him. Now, it had faded again.

But he could still follow it.

He jerked his head, pointing Ryland in the right direction.

Their mate was the curvy woman leaning over the bar wearing a low-cut blouse and a skirt short enough to show everyone everything should she bend over.

Oh, fuck no, Ryker thought as he pushed his way through the crowd that had yet to sense the predator among them and get out of the way. There was no way in hell his mate was going to wear that skimpy little outfit. Or work in a bar filled with shifters and humans just waiting to grab a piece of her fine-looking ass.

Fuck no.

He didn’t even take time to memorize her features. He had a vague impression of coal black hair and a creamy, pale complexion.

He gave a little roar and the path completely cleared for him. The males threw him an uneasy look and the women gave him I’ve-got-just-what-you-need smiles. He didn’t bother to return any of the silent invitations, his attention focused solely on the woman as she got her drink order and turned to walk away. She lifted the heavy tray above the swaying bodies as she made her way around the dance floor to the tables in back. He quickened his steps dimly aware that Ryland was on his six.

As she moved, the air drifted back to him, filled with her scent. Oh, there was no doubt this luscious bundle of curves was his. He shook his head to clear away the possessive though. Theirs. She was theirs.

Her ass swayed as she walked and it was all he could do not to crush the heads of the men who ogled her as she walked by. She was definitely giving off the mate vibe—his bear and c*** had both roared to attention the moment he’d caught sight of her.

 ~Excerpt~

“I’m Mandy, and I’m bi.”

“My name’s Cole, and I identify as gay.”

“Terry, and if you can’t tell I’m gay, you need your brain checked, okay?”

The room chuckled, and then everybody’s gaze fell on me. “Uh…” I coughed. My throat felt like it was filled with sand, and I practically had to spit out my next words, “I’m Dante.” That’s it, just Dante. Now move along…

Fortunately when he realized I wasn’t going to say any more, the man next to me piped up with his introduction.

I whistled a sigh of relief. When I got out of this frigging trust circle, I was going to wring Greg’s scrawny neck!

I felt like a huge asshole sitting in this circle of ten people in a secluded underground room of the student union. They were here because they wanted to share with other people like them, to hang out and not be judged. Well, I wasn’t judging by any means, but the only reason I’d found my way to this LGBTQ meeting was because I’d lost a bet and my friend was still immature enough to find this kind of thing amusing.

The guy next to me nudged me in the shoulder, and I nearly flew ten feet out of my chair. I looked around the room. Introductions seemed to be over, and now everyone was just talking.

“You’re a fourth year, right?” he asked. His voice was smooth and rich. It reminded me of syrup, or tree sap.

“Fifth.” I swallowed. “I’m only finishing up electives this semester. I already have a job in my field.”

“Ah, must be nice.” He threw back his head over the edge of his chair and sighed. “In this little town it’s hard to find an internship close to home. I’ve been going through hell trying.” He grinned. “What’d you study?”

“Physical therapy.”
“Ah, that explains it. There are so many old folks and people who work with their backs around here. You’ll be in business for a long while yet. Or did you have plans to leave town?”

Part of me wondered if this was the kind of small talk I’d thought about making with that girl before. This guy was a hell of a lot better at it than I would’ve been. But whatever his motives, I didn’t mind. Greg was the only close friend I had on campus, and he hated talking about school life and work. The change of topic from girls and clubbing was refreshing.

“Nah, not leaving.” I shook my head. “Born and raised here in the country and no plan on leaving. I stick to my roots.”

He nodded. “I feel the same.” He held out his hand to me. “James.”

“Dante.” I took his hand warmly.

“So…” James leaned back in his chair and gestured at the whole of the room. “I haven’t seen you at one of these before.”

“Um…”

“Hey, it’s cool if you don’t wanna talk about it. Just making an observation. This place is so no pressure.”

It certainly didn’t feel like no pressure to me, but maybe it was the overwhelming guilt that made my stomach feel like it was tangled in knots. I wasn’t going to lie—I’d been curious in the past, but nothing ever came of it. Then again I’d never had a girlfriend either, which was why Greg had thought this would be so hilarious. I found men and women attractive in their own way, but that hardly made me gay or bisexual. Damn, if Greg knew how much stress this was really causing me inside, he’d probably look at me like I’d grown another head.

“Terry over there…” James set a hand on my shoulder and pointed to the guy who’d introduced himself earlier. “Biggest flamer in the whole damn school, and proud of it. You’ll see him at every drag show, and he’ll probably win. Sets the rest of the competition on edge, I tell ya.” He chuckled and pointed to another guy sitting three seats to my left. “The guy with the lumberjack beard is Carl. He’s quiet, not too wild. You two would probably get along.”

“Why are you telling me all this?”

James laughed. “Because you’re new, and I can tell you’re the shy type. Just put yourself out there. Nobody here bites…” He winked. “Often. Ah, I just noticed Seven is missing. Bummer. Not surprised, though. He’s a shy guy too. He’d be the perfect one for you to talk to. Better than me.”

“Seven?” What kind of a name was that?

I can mostly be found staring into the screen of my PC or laptop into all hours of the night, hyped on caffeinated soda and likely procrastinating something important by losing at Internet Checkers or browsing the web (The day I win a game of Internet Checkers is the day I can write more than a few pages at once without procrastinating). When I'm not doing that, I'm either out being my nerdy self or, of course, writing. I've been writing since the fourth grade, and have no plans to stop. To me, one of the greatest pleasures in life is being able to create worlds and characters whose lives I can share with others.

Holiday Book Event!

The Wish Augur by Cecil Wilde

Genre: M/M

Gabriel Juarez has only one wish for Christmas, uttered moments before midnight on Christmas Eve: a hug. He wakes up the next morning to find his wish being haphazardly granted in the form of an insecure elf called Felix, who works as a wish augur and couldn't bring himself to let Gabe's wish go unfulfilled.

~Excerpt~

When he wakes with someone else wrapped around him from behind, Gabe's first instinct is to snuggle back into them and enjoy the warmth and comfort. It takes him probably a full thirty seconds to realise that there absolutely shouldn't be anyone else in his bed, no way in hell, and he cries out before scrambling away from whoever it is, pressing his back against the wall. His heart thuds in his chest and his breath comes in desperate gasps.

The person he'd just been sharing a bed with sits up. He—or at least, Gabe's guessing it's a he—has a ruffled mop of bright blond hair, but darker skin and a wide face with a sweet little button nose. He blinks huge blue eyes a few times, yawns, stretches, and then scratches his stomach before looking over at Gabe with a soft smile. He'd be really cute if he hadn't broken into Gabe's home and climbed into his bed.

"What the hell, man?" Gabe stares at him.

The intruder blinks again. "Merry Christmas?"

He looks as confused as Gabe feels, which could mean anything, but he doesn't seem like he's there to hurt him. He's just sitting up in the bed, looking at him like he's the only thing in the universe. Which, again, would be nice if it wasn't creepy as hell.

"Don't you 'Merry Christmas' me. What're you doing in here?"

His face falls. "You said you wanted … I volunteered … it was your Christmas wish? You wanted a hug."

Gabe frowns. He vaguely remembers thinking—maybe even stating out loud, to himself—that he just wanted a hug for Christmas. A total stranger shouldn't know about it, though.

"How did you know that?" Gabe eyes him suspiciously.

"Santa hears everything." He smiles fondly. "He listens to all his children. Especially the ones he didn't get a chance to visit when they were little."

"Are you trying to tell me Santa's real?" Gabe raises an eyebrow in disbelief. "And you're supposed to be what? A Christmas gift?"

"I'm an elf." The guy—the elf, apparently—bounces a little as he says it, and Gabe thinks he hears the faintest jingling sound. Maybe he's just going completely crazy.

"Right." Gabe wets his lips. It's totally implausible, because someone would have noticed Santa and elves and stuff at some point, but he's inclined to believe it all the same. Something about this elf guy seems too earnest for Gabe to completely doubt him. "From, like, the North Pole?"

The elf nods. There's a faint jingling sound again, so Gabe either is really losing it or this guy?

Actually an elf. Or something non-human, anyway.

He's not sure he cares which one it is any more. The clock at the side of the bed tells him it's just gone six a.m. and he could really use at least two or three more hours' sleep before he faces the world. It's Christmas morning, he deserves that.

"So do elves have names?"

The elf pauses and narrows his eyes, looking away. Gabe can practically see the hamster wheel turning in his head as he thinks.

"Felix." He nods decisively.

"Like the cat?"

Felix tilts his head sideways. Gabe takes that as a no.

"Did you just name yourself?"

"Well, I can't give you my real name. It's too dangerous." He draws his knees up to his chest and wraps his arms around them. "Do you not like Felix? You can call me something else if you want."

"Uh, no, Felix is fine. You picked it." It hits Gabe again that he's talking to a guy who claims to be an elf. "This is insane."

Two Dads for Christmas by Kate Richards

Genre: Menage / M/M

Lauren is in trouble. Only the adoption agency lady knows the heartbreaking decision she’s making. But every baby deserves a father and Lauren’s ex isn’t stepping up to the plate. Without a dad for her child, Lauren doesn’t feel she can give her baby what he or she deserves. When her mother sends her to the Castillo resort in Castle, Alaska to help with a holiday celebration, Lauren jumps at the chance to forget her worries.

Jorell’s career is soaring. In charge of development for the Castillo Resorts Caribbean region, the only thing on his mind is pursuing a vice presidency. Not romance. But a forced transfer to the frozen north throws him—and his prospects off-kilter.

Zachary lives near Castle, Alaska, but the fishing guide has had little success finding a social life and fears his interest in both men and women may be too wild for the wilderness.

Two men and one pregnant woman…in charge of the holiday activities at the Christmas Extravaganza at Castle Lodge. Friendship and intense attraction blooms between them. But Madame Eve has her work cut out for her…will Jorell and Zach provide enough reasons for Lauren to change her mind?

~Excerpt~

Lauren,

Your aunt and uncle love you very much and, as a special Christmas gift, they’ve allowed me to arrange a unique evening for you. Your date will meet you at the large cabin behind the lodge, for a night you will never forget.

Madame Eve

Perfect. Might as well get it over with—although it would have been simpler to give the guy the slip in the coffee shop or another public area. Kathryn and Nick met through Madame Eve and shared a world-class romance, even now that they were married and parents. Sweet looks, private jokes, stolen kisses…everything any girl could want. She stuffed the paper into her bodice with a sigh.

But she’d already set her course and, if it weren’t for her previous poor judgment and the fact that she’d already fallen hard for two men who had eyes only for each other, it could indeed be a night to remember. Instead, she cut through the gleaming kitchen, smiling at the late night staffers, and out the back door. A light beamed from the front window of the cabin where, according to Andie, she’d spent her first night with her true loves. For just a second an image flashed through her mind—of Jorell and Zach, their nude white and mocha bodies in a four-poster bed, arms outstretched to her in invitation.

But the single tear froze on her cheek along with her dreams as she plodded up the path to the cabin and lifted her hand to the door.

It jerked open, and she gasped. Christmas music poured out on a gust of warm, pine-scented air. A tall spruce decked for the holidays glittered in a corner. Low laughter from somewhere near the flickering flames of the fireplace did not come from the auburn-bearded man who greeted her in the open doorway. It came from Jorell.

And Zach’s hand was the one that tugged her inside, when her feet became one with the doorstep. Lauren’s heart thudded so loud in her ears, it drowned out the Carol of the Bells. Her hopes rose to the high rafters then crashed down when she realized….

“I’m so sorry to interrupt your evening. I must be at the wrong cabin.” And she’d be going back to her room after that, date be darned.

Sexcation by Elise Whyles

Blurb:

Tony Richards has it all— or at least that's what his friends say. With money, prestige and women falling all over him, something is still missing. When his best friend Shelly tells him about a unique resort, Tony is both thrilled and apprehensive.

Bad boy Chet Monroe has spent the last two years working hard to afford a week long trip to Aphrodite's Island resort. He's not looking for anything special, just a chance to relax. Until he arrives and meets the man of his dreams.

When Tony sees Chet, he's instantly smitten with the handsome, if somewhat rugged man with the tattoos and attitude, but it’s his chance to have his ultimate fantasy. Can the rancher and the bartender find forever when their week is up?

Excerpt:

“You need to get laid.” Shelly’s annoying voice echoed in his ear as the gentle swell of the sea rocked the private yacht currently easing into dock. Tony stared out over the blue-green sea with a detached sort of fascination. A narrow strip of beach followed the sea line as far as he could see. Lush green trees reached for the sky. He sure as hell wasn’t in Wyoming anymore. The crackle of a microphone drew his attention to the tall woman at the helm.

A peach colored bikini barely covered her breasts, her long hair was pulled back in a thick braid and designer sunglasses covered her eyes. “Good morning everyone. I hope your flight was pleasant. Before we disembark, I have a couple of things to go over with you.”

Tony fidgeted in his seat, fighting the nervousness in his belly. He wasn’t so sure this was a good idea, not that he’d been all fired up about it when Shelly had handed him the ticket and told him to go. He adjusted the brim of his Stetson, his eyes looking out over the tropical island. Nope, it had to be one of Shelly’s worst ideas ever.

“This is Aphrodite’s Island, a specialty resort. We cater to a select group, dealing in sexual fantasies. To ensure everyone is safe and happy with their stay, we do have rules.” She held up a fist with her index finger extended. “One—if the person you are involved with says no, they mean no. It’s not a maybe, or I’ll think about it, unless its a fantasy you’ve already discussed and have agreed to the circumstance before hand. Disregarding this will ensure you are penalized to the fullest extent of the law.”

She lifted a second finger and inhaled. “Two—we ask that when you step into your fantasy you come up with a safe word to ensure your partner doesn’t take things too far beyond your comfort level. Our intent is to provide the best experience of your life, but in a way that respects everyone’s desires.”

Tony leaned forward on the plush leather chair at the hard note in the woman’s voice. “For health and safety reason, we do supply condoms in every room. We do not encourage unprotected sex. Are there any questions?”

“Yes ma’am,” a deep, smoky drawl from behind Tony sent a shiver of pleasure up his spine.

“Of course.”

“Is there any way off the island if we don’t want to continue?”

Tony turned in his seat to stare at the speaker. Thick black hair curled over the man’s shoulders. A large black and white tattoo of a wolf covered one shoulder and arm. Several others peaked from beneath the tank-top he wore. A pair of worn, faded jeans encased his legs, covering the tops of a pair of heavy boots as he lounged against the wall.

Tony felt the kick of attraction in his gut. Hot and tight, it twisted him into a knot of want. Turning, he face forward. As sexy as he was, the ladies would be falling all over themselves to get into his bed. What a waste of man.

“We book the stays in a seven day rotation. Unless it’s an emergency or something very pressing, we do not have a routine ferry. Unfortunately, this means you do have to remain on the island for the duration. However, if you chose to step away from your fantasy, we do offer a non-sexual holiday.”

Yeah, non-sexual my ass. I’d love to have him riding me. Tony sighed, his mind racing as the woman continued on with details about transportation. He heard a couple of the other passengers ask questions but paid them little mind.
